The Appeal’s journalist, Eoin Higgins, that broke the story of a Massachusetts District Attorney undermining the election process went to his social media account yesterday to post some interesting screenshots of what appear to be between Caccaviello wife, Karen Caccaviello, threatening a local business owner for having different views than her husband.
The text messages start out:
KAREN: “I BROUGHT MY DAUGHTER AND MY SISTER TO YOUR RESTAURANT YESTERDAY .. I HAD NO IDEA THE COMMENTS YOU WERE SPEWING ON FB. WE WOULD OF NEVER GONE. HAVE YOU EVER MET MY HUSBAND?”
BUSINESS OWNER: “I’M SORRY WHO IS THIS?”

KAREN: “HAVE YOU NOT SEEN WHAT YOU POSTED”
BUSINESS OWNER: “I POSTED IT SO YES I HAVE. IT’S A DISGUSTING ABUSE OF POWER OUT OF THE DA’S OFFICER. THAT’S ALL I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THAT.”
The text messages go back and forth but end:
KAREN: “I WON’T GET INTO IT W[ITH] YOU BUT I HAVE A BIG ITALIAN FAMILY I TOLD THEM ALL.”
KAREN: “WE ARE LOYAL”
KAREN: “I LIKED YOUR RESTAURANT BUT I WILL NEVER BE BACK”

KAREN: “THE HIGHLAND .. IS ALL I’M SAYING”
KAREN: “SO GOODNIGHT THANKS FOR LISTENING AND THATS ALL I’LL REALLY EVER HAVE TO SAY”
The post was referring to former Berkshire District Attorney, David Capeless, that stepped down March 1 after being in office 14 years. Before stepping down, Capeless lined up and helped advance his successor, Paul J. Caccaviello, who short-circuited the electoral process.
Emails between Capeless and Governor Charlie Baker’s office that were obtained by The Appeal show how he was trying to beat his opponents, that wanted to reform Berkshire, by having Baker’s chief legal counsel, Lon Povich, coordinate meetings for Capeless and Caccaviello with Baker.
A timeline of his plan for resignation was sent by Capeless to the governor’s office the emails show.
Capeless told Povich that when he took out for re-election papers, is was only done to confuse the local media.
“The reason we have an elected DA is because the DA is supposed to be the conscience of the community,” said Harrington “the fact that we have a DA that doesn’t understand that should trouble people.”
Dimoff reached out to Higgins attempting to get more information but was advised that we will have to wait till he finishes writing his story and that he can not advise which outlet will be posting it but will let us know when it is published.
